Introduction to Katseye

The pop girl group Katseye, consisting of members Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae, has released a new single titled "Gnarly". This hyperpop track, which is just over two minutes long, is the group’s first release since their debut EP, Sis (soft is strong). The song features "quacking 808s, silica rave synthesizer, and a combative attitude", marking the beginning of a new era for the group.

The Meaning Behind "Gnarly"

According to Katseye, "Gnarly" is a reflection of their personality and style. "We want people to feel the mood and really connect with us through our music," the group explained. "Gnarly feels loyal to us. It’s brave, it’s fun, and it shows another side of what we’re about." The song’s unique sound and energetic vibe are sure to resonate with listeners and leave a lasting impression.

The Formation of Katseye

Katseye, billed as an international group, was formed through a partnership between Hybe and Geffen Records. The group’s formation was documented on the Netflix series Pop Star Academy: Katsye, which followed the journey of the six young women as they came together to form the group. The documentary, which was released last summer, provides an intimate look at the group’s formation and rise to fame.

Diversity and Representation

One of the things that sets Katseye apart is their diversity. "One of our big things is that we want to show our diversity," said Manon. "I think it’s so nice in our group that every young girl can look at our group and see themselves in us because we are so diverse and different." This commitment to representation and inclusivity is something that the group is passionate about, and it shines through in their music and message.

The Making of "Gnarly"

"Gnarly" was produced by a team of talented producers, including Pink Slip, Tim Randolph, Hybe founder "Hitman" Bang, and Slow Rabbit. The song’s unique sound and style are a testament to the group’s creativity and talent. To experience "Gnarly" for yourself, check out the music video below.
