Box Office Report: Great Britain and Ireland

The latest box office report for Great Britain and Ireland reveals the top five films for the week of July 4th to July 6th. The rankings are based on the total box office gross for each film during this period.

Top Five Films

The top five films for the week are:

  1. Jurassic World Rebirth (US) – Distributed by Universal, with a total box office gross of £9.2m.
  2. F1 (US) – Distributed by Warner Bros, with a total box office gross of £3.1m.
  3. How to Train Your Kite (US) – Distributed by Universal, with a total box office gross of £1.5m.
  4. 28 Years Later (US/UK) – Distributed by Sony, with a total box office gross of £1.4m.
  5. Elio (US) – Distributed by Disney, with a total box office gross of £691,020.

Film Analysis

Jurassic World Rebirth had a strong opening weekend, with a total box office gross of £9.2m, making it the fourth highest opening of the seven Jurassic Park films. The film opened in 684 cinemas, with an average gross of £13,472 per cinema. Including preview screenings on Wednesday and Thursday, the film has a total gross of £12.5m.

F1 fell to second place but still had a strong session, with a total box office gross of £3.1m, a drop of only 37% from its opening weekend. The film has now grossed a total of £12.9m and is expected to reach £20m by the end of its run.

How to Train Your Kite held its position in third place, with a total box office gross of £1.5m, a drop of 26% from the previous weekend. The film has now grossed a total of £18.2m and is expected to overtake the £17.4m gross of the original animated film from 2010.

Other Notable Films

28 Years Later continued its successful run, adding £1.4m to its total gross, a drop of 41% from the previous weekend. The film has now grossed a total of £12.5m and is expected to become the highest-grossing horror film of the year.

Elio had a slow start but has shown good hold, with a drop of only 10% from the previous weekend. The film added £691,020 to its total gross, which now stands at £3m.

Box Office Trends

The total box office gross for the top five films was £15.9m, an increase of 50% from the previous weekend. This is the highest total since the release of Lilo & Stitch and Mission: Impossible – The Last Billing at the end of May. The box office has also shown a significant increase of over 100% compared to the equivalent weekend last year, indicating a continued recovery of the box office.

Other Films

Lilo & Stitch added £476,644 to its total gross, a drop of 12%, which now stands at £35.7m. Megan 2.0 fell by 67%, with a total gross of £168,778, which brings its total to £983,155. Mission: Impossible – The Last Billing added £168,000 to its total gross, which now stands at £26.6m.

The Ballad of Valais Island was one of the few films to show an increase, with a rise of 2% from the previous weekend. The film added £92,131 to its total gross, which now stands at £1.7m. The Salt Path added £80,000 to its total gross, a drop of 47%, which brings its total to £7.7m.

New Releases

Hot Milk opened in 115 cinemas, with an average gross of £485, and a total gross of £87,350, including preview screenings. U-Bahn in Dino opened in 80 cinemas, with an average gross of £702. Peppa Meets the Baby Cinema Experience added £50,034 to its total gross, a drop of 5%, which now stands at £2.2m.

Karate Kid: Legends added £43,131 to its total gross, which now stands at £5.5m. Sitaare Zameen Par added £36,356 to its total gross, which now stands at £521,005. The Heads opened with a total gross of £23,385, including preview screenings. Jungle Trouble opened with a total gross of £19,043.

The Phoenician Program added £16,418 to its total gross, which now stands at £3.1m. Final Destination: Bloodlines added £14,060 to its total gross, which now stands at £11.6m. The Girl Who Jumped Through Time opened with a total gross of £10,078. Heart of Darkness opened with a total gross of £8,884.

Clueless added £4,300 to its total gross, which now stands at £98,000. Maa added £4,231 to its total gross, which now stands at £52,524.
