Introduction to We the Band
The Avex Music Group has signed Justin Bieber’s long-term backing group, We the Band, the company announced on Thursday. We the Band consists of bass player Harv, DJ Tay James, guitarist Julian Micheal, drummer Devin "Stixx" Taylor, and keyboardist O’Neil Palmer.
The Band’s Background and Experience
James was not only Bieber’s DJ but also his long-time A&R. Meanwhile, Harv has produced several Bieber tracks, including the 2020 song with Post Malone and the 2021 hit "Peaches" with Daniel Caesar and Giveon. This experience and talent have prepared them for their next big step.
The Partnership with Avex Music Group
The step comes as Avex, the Japanese entertainment conglomerate, appointed music manager Brandon Silverstein as the CEO of the newly created Avex Music Group and took over his company S10 Music Publishing. Silverstein expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, "Through my friendships and conversations with the band and Justin, I saw how much they believe and inspire each other – not as employees, but as humans."
The Vision and Potential
Silverstein continued, "The vision of Harv and Tay and the real talent of the band made it clear that this was something special with real potential. This energy triggered something in me and the Avex team. We are really excited about what is ahead of us." The partnership is expected to bring new and exciting music to fans worldwide.
Upcoming Debut Album
With the signing, Avex will handle the band’s debut album, set to be released later this year. The company did not state a specific release date but mentioned that the record would feature "a number of special guest appearances." The band expressed their enthusiasm for the project, saying, "This has been a dream of ours for many years. To create our own music, which represents who we are as musicians, with the support of a global powerhouse like Avex, is incredibly exciting for all of us. We can’t wait for our fans to hear what we’ve worked on."
