Ed Sheeran’s Upcoming Album Release
Ed Sheeran, the four-time Grammy winner, has announced that his next record will be released on September 12th. To celebrate this occasion, he also published the second single of the project, titled "Old Phone".
Inspiration Behind the Album
Sheeran shared the inspiration behind his album in an Instagram post, where he admitted that the album was created as a direct response to the darkest time of his life. This experience led him to "create joy and technology and to explore cultures in the countries that I was on tour" while working on the album. He wrote, "I made this recording all over the world, finished it in Goa, India, and had some of the funniest and most exploratory creative days of my life."
A Roller Coaster of Emotions
Sheeran described the album as "a real roller coaster from emotions from start to finish", summarizing everything he loves in music and where he is in life as a person, partner, and father. The album is a reflection of his personal growth and experiences, making it a unique and exciting project.
New Singles and Collaborations
Almost a month before his announcement, Sheeran dropped "Azizam", the first single of the album, which was produced by Ilya Salanzadeh, who has worked with artists like Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, and Tate McRae. The idea for the new track came when the producer suggested trying music inspired by his Persian heritage and culture. Sheeran explained that "Azizam" is a concept of tenderness that means "my dear".
Album Details
The album’s tracklist contains both "Azizam" and "Old Phone", with a total of 13 tracks. The singer-songwriter’s last album, Autumn Variations, was released in 2023 and landed in 4th place on the Billboard 200 album charts.
What to Expect
With the release of "Old Phone" and the upcoming album, fans can expect a mix of emotions, cultures, and experiences that Sheeran has accumulated during his time on tour and in his personal life. The album promises to be an exciting and unique project that showcases Sheeran’s growth as an artist and a person.
