Introduction to Taylor Swift’s Latest Project

The first day pre-sale for Taylor Swift’s film, The Official Release Party of a Show Girl, has exceeded those of her concert documentary, The Eras Tour, according to two major European exhibition chains. This film is an 89-minute behind-the-scenes look at the making of Swift’s new album, The Life of a Show Girl.

Breaking Records

Johnny Carr, head of Event Cinema and Distribution at VUE International, stated that the first day pre-sales for The Official Release Party of a Show Girl have surpassed those of The Eras Tour by 80% in their European markets, with a 40% increase in the UK. This is a significant achievement, considering The Eras Tour previously broke global pre-sale records.

Film Details

The Official Release Party of a Show Girl will have a limited cinema release in over 50 territories from October 3 to 5. The film includes the music video for ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, the lead single from the album, as well as behind-the-scenes footage from the music video shoot, new lyric videos, and Swift’s thoughts on the songs from her 12th studio album.

Ticket Sales

Tickets for the film went on sale on September 23 in the UK and Ireland, with Swift announcing the album on August 13. The demand for tickets has been incredible, with VUE International increasing the number of shows to meet the demand. Stuart Crane, Vice President for International Content at the CineWorld Group, reported that they sold more tickets in the first 24 hours than they did for The Eras Tour film.

Global Release

AMC Theaters, the world’s largest chain by the number of venues, will play the film in all 540 of its locations in North America, with tickets going on sale on September 19. The film will also be released in over 110 countries, including Latin America, Europe, and Asia, with dates and ticket information to be announced later.

Competition and Event Releases

The exhibitors will need to balance the demand for The Official Release Party of a Show Girl with space for other films, including The Smashing Machine, Him, and Urban, all releasing on October 3 to 5 in the UK and Ireland. The first week of October is also a major period for event releases, with several concert films, including a BTS concert film and Radiohead X Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, set to release.
