The End of an Era

The reality TV show "Catfish" has been canceled by MTV after nine seasons. Sources close to the show have confirmed that the network has decided not to renew the series, which was hosted by Nev Schulman.

What is Catfish?

The show helped people uncover the truth about their suspicious online relationships. It was based on a documentary of the same name, released in 2010, in which Schulman explored the phenomenon of people using false identities or stolen photos to deceive others on the internet.

History of the Show

"Catfish: The TV Show" first aired on MTV in 2012 and ran for nine seasons, with the final season concluding in July 2024. Over the years, the show had a few different co-hosts, including Kamie Crawford, who joined Schulman for 96 episodes.

Impact and Legacy

The show not only gave a name to the phenomenon of digital deception but also spawned international spinoffs in several countries, including Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, and the UK. Its influence can still be seen on screen, with recent episodes of other shows and documentaries exploring similar themes.

What’s Next for the Host?

Since the end of the ninth season, the status of "Catfish: The TV Show" had been uncertain, with MTV not announcing a renewal or cancellation. Recently, Schulman announced that he had obtained his real estate broker license and would be helping people buy and sell houses in New York. The show may be over, but its host is moving on to new ventures.
