James van der Beek Unable to Attend Dawson’s Creek Reunion Due to Illness
James van der Beek took to Instagram on Sunday evening to reveal that he would not be able to attend the Dawson’s Creek reunion on Monday due to a stomach illness. The actor, who was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in November, expressed his disappointment at missing the event.
A Star-Studded Replacement
Fortunately for fans, van der Beek has a backup plan in place. He announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator and star of the Broadway sensation Hamilton, would be taking his place at the reunion. Van der Beek joked that his children would consider Miranda an upgrade, and that he was already familiar with the theater.
The Reunion
The Dawson’s Creek reunion, which was first announced in August, will see the original cast come together to read a table about the show’s pilot episode. The event will benefit cancer research and will feature Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and other original cast members. Jason Moore, who directed several episodes of the show, will serve as the director of the reunion.
A Special Evening
The reunion is being produced by a team of industry professionals, including Carl Ogawa, Jason Moore, and Kevin Williamson. Williamson expressed his gratitude and excitement for the event, saying that it would be a special evening to honor van der Beek and raise awareness for cancer research. The evening will also feature some surprise elements, which Moore has planned.
Lin-Manuel Miranda: A Talented Replacement
Lin-Manuel Miranda is a highly acclaimed writer, actor, and composer. He is best known for creating and starring in Hamilton, which is currently playing in cinemas nationwide. Miranda has also appeared in films such as Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and In the Heights, and has worked on television shows such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians and His Dark Materials. His talent and charisma make him an excellent replacement for van der Beek at the reunion.
