Introduction to Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani, who designed the uniform of the aspiration and defined the course of fashion in the 1980s, has been announced dead today. He was 91 years old when he passed away on July 11th. His death was confirmed by the company.

Announcement of His Death

"With infinite grief, the Armani group announces the death of its creator, founder and tirelessly driving force: Giorgio Armani," says an explanation. "Mr. Armani, as he was always called respectfully and admiringly by employees and colleagues, died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. He worked to the end and was devoted to the company, the collections and the many ongoing and future projects."

Career and Success

Armani was undeniably the most successful Italian fashion designer in history and was also a successful entrepreneur. He was the only shareholder in his company Giorgio Armani Spa, whose interests were expanded far beyond clothing to include hotels, household goods and even confectionery. The business, which he started from scratch in 1975 and was financed with the sale of his Volkswagen Beetle, recorded sales of EUR 2.1 billion in 2019 and employs around 8,000 people worldwide. His personal assets were estimated at $11 billion.

Early Life and Design Career

Armani began to design both women’s clothing and men’s fashion as a freelancer in the early 1970s after working for the designer Nino Cerruti for six years, for which he worked on a sports swear label called Hitman. Previously, he worked in the Milan department store La Rinascente for seven years, where he worked as a window dresser and deputy buyer. Armani opened his own design studio with the encouragement of his partner in both life and business, the architect Sergio Galeotti.

Founding of the Company

As Armani said, "Sergio made me believe in myself. He made me see the bigger world." The two men founded their company, and at their first show, Armani presented 12 models with looks featuring light and relaxed deconstructed men’s suit jackets, which he had already shown in addition to men’s clothing on a 60-look co-ed show in January. Thanks to his supple and sporty leather blouson jackets, Armani had already become a sum designer in the Milan fashion scene, and these earliest collections for women proved to be similar to the media.
