Introduction to the Broadway Show "Art"
The upcoming Broadway production of "Art" has announced that Grammy winner Kid Harpoon will be creating original music for the show. "Art" is a play about three friends who discuss the merit of a ridiculously expensive painting, written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton.
The Cast and Crew
The new production will feature a talented cast, including Tony-nominated and Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale, Tony winner and Emmy winner James Corden, and Tony winner Scott Ellis. Ellis will also be directing the show. This talented team is sure to bring the play to life in a unique and exciting way.
Kid Harpoon’s Musical Contribution
Kid Harpoon, a songwriter and producer, won his first Grammy in 2023 for his work on "Harry’s House" by Harry Styles. He also produced Miley Cyrus’ hit record "Flowers", which won record of the year. Kid Harpoon is known for working with prominent artists across all genres, including Lizzo, Florence + the Machine, and David Byrne. His original music for "Art" is sure to be a highlight of the show.
Production Details
The preview of "Art" begins on August 28, with an official opening night on September 16 at the Music Box Theater on Broadway. The production will play a limited engagement of 17 weeks, ending on December 21, 2025. The design team includes David Rockwell, Linda Cho, Jen Schriever, and Mikaal Sulaiman, who will bring the play’s setting and characters to life through their designs.
