Introduction to Wexford Town

Wexford Town recently hosted an exciting musical event, featuring renowned artist Ed Sheeran. The Hitmaker performed on Tuesday evening alongside popular Irish bands, including Amble, Biird, Beoga, and Aaron Rowe, at the Sky and the Floor pub.

Ed Sheeran’s Performance

Sheeran, whose father hails from Belfast, had announced in June that he identifies culturally as Irish. During his performance, he made sure that fans who couldn’t get into the pub didn’t miss out. He took his music outside, playing an acoustic version of his hit single "Perfect" for the enthusiastic crowd.

Collaborations and Traditional Folk Songs

Sheeran also collaborated with the all-female supergroup Biird to play the traditional folk song "Wild Mountain Thyme". Additionally, the Irish folk band Amble joined Biird and Sheeran to perform the folk song "Raglan Road", which was met with great enthusiasm from the audience.

Fleadh Cheoil Na Héireann Festival

The event was part of the Fleadh Cheoil Na Héireann, the world’s largest annual festival of Irish music. This festival showcases a wide range of musical talents, including street artists, intimate concerts, and well-known acts. It also features over 150 competitions that highlight the best of traditional music talent, making it a unique and exciting experience for music lovers.
