Spider-Man in Glasgow

Filming in the City

The Spider-Man actor Tom Holland met fans when he shot the latest edition of the superhero franchise in Glasgow. The actor plays in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which started in the city on Friday. This is the second film in a row that the star shot in Scotland, following last month’s filming of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in various locations around Inverness and Moray.

Transforming the City

Parts of Glasgow’s city center have been transformed to resemble an American city, with filming taking place over two weeks. The city’s streets have been dressed up with American-style street signs, buildings, and props to create an authentic backdrop for the movie.

Action-Packed Filming

Holland was seen on Sunday shooting an action sequence in his Spider-Man costume before chatting with around 100 fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of the star. The filming took place in a closed-off section of the city center, with large areas blocked off to accommodate the production.

Disruptions and Excitement

The filming has caused some disruptions in the city, with warnings issued about widespread disorders. However, the excitement among fans and locals is palpable, with many eager to see the finished product on the big screen.

Glasgow’s Hollywood Connection

The film is the latest in a long line of Hollywood blockbusters to be shot in Glasgow in recent years. The city has become a popular destination for filmmakers, with its versatile landscape and architecture making it an ideal location for a variety of productions. Other notable films shot in Glasgow include a remake of the 1980s science fiction thriller Twister, starring Glen Powell, and the ghostwriter by JJ Abrams.

Glasgow’s Cinematic History

Glasgow has also been used as a stand-in for other cities, including New York and Gotham City, in films such as Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, The Flash, and The Batman. The city’s unique blend of Victorian and modern architecture makes it an attractive location for filmmakers looking to create a distinctive and authentic backdrop for their stories.
