Introduction to Cobain

Those who are even casually familiar with hip-hop have long known Cobain as one of the most talented and rapid rapper producers in the game. Recently, the rest of the music world got to know him too, thanks to his collaboration with Justin Bieber.

Cobain’s Collaboration with Justin Bieber

Cobain delivered one of the best features on Bieber’s latest album, which was released on July 11th. This marked one of the most profiled moments in the rapper’s career, with Cobain taking over the opening of the title track "Swag". As a member of the 2024 Freshman class of XXL, Cobain shared with The Hollywood Reporter how this collaboration began.

The Beginning of the Collaboration

According to Cobain, everything started at the beginning of this year when he saw Justin Bieber post his song "Trippin on a Yacht" online. He then slid into Bieber’s DMs and wrote: "We had to make fire together." From there, they started working together, and one day, Bieber invited Cobain to his apartment in New York, where they had a studio set up in the living room.

The Recording Session

Cobain described the recording session as loose and effortless. "We were just vibing, being free, and being creative," he said. "There was no pressure, nothing like that. I just went in and did my thing, put down a few ideas. It was also a long session. We threw around ideas and found out what we liked." Cobain was thrilled to see the final product, and he’s glad that Bieber was able to release the album and the song.

Justin Bieber’s Album "Prey"

"Prey" is Justin Bieber’s first album since "Justice" in 2021. The album features verses from various artists, including Sexyy Red, Dijon, Lil B, and Gunna. One of the standout tracks, "Daisies", has been producing waves, surpassing both Apple Music and Spotify’s US Daily Charts this week.

What’s Next for Cobain

As for Cobain, he has a lot in store for his fans. He’s working on his second album, and his "Party with Slizzy" headlining tour is set to start in New York in September. With his rising fame and talent, Cobain is definitely an artist to watch out for in the hip-hop scene.
