Oasis Reunion Tour
The Oasis Live ’25 Reunion Tour marks the end of a 15-year separation between the Gallagher brothers. It was 15 years ago since Oasis performed live after the band’s dramatic separation following a backstage bust-up in 2009. But stop screaming – because Liam and Noel Gallagher are back, and Cardiff is the first stop on their most excited comeback tour. The first two nights of the 41-day appearances will take place on Friday, July 4th, and Saturday, July 5th, at the Principality Stadium.
Why is the Oasis Reunification a Big Deal?
Some may say that the Gallagher brothers were a defining soundtrack for their lives since Oasis’ debut album dropped in August 1994. The band’s last studio album, Dig Out Your Soul, was released in October 2008, just a few months before things fell apart after a backstage series at Paris’ Rock en Seine festival. Oasis separated, and years of public feuding between Noel and Liam followed – until last August when the brothers announced that they would make a comeback.
Support Acts
The support acts for Oasis come in the form of Richard Ashcroft, the frontman of The Verve, and Liverpool-based Britpop band Cast. Fans hope that Ashcroft will play some of his greatest hits from the Bitter Sweet Symphony days, including "The Drugs Don’t Work" and "Lucky Man." According to the Oasis Fans Club, the connection between Ashcroft and the Gallaghers dates back decades when The Verve supported Oasis in 1993 in their early days. Ashcroft recently joined Liam on stage in Finsbury Park in 2018, and the two worked together again in 2022.
Concert Details
The Principality Stadium roof will be closed for both Oasis concerts. While the shows are officially sold out, the band announced on June 25 that further tickets could be released. In an Instagram post, the band said that promoters "may be able to release a very limited number of additional tickets." They said that the final release would happen "in the coming days" once the last checks had been carried out.
Road Closures
Cardiff Council said there would be a full road closure in the stadium area from 3:00 p.m. to midnight on July 4th and 5th. The streets included in this are:
- Duke Street
- Castle Street
- High Street
- St Mary Street
- Caroline Street
- Wood Street
- Central Square
- Westgate Street
- Quay Street
- Guildhall Place
- Golate
- Havelock Street
Travel Information
The M4 motorway will likely be very busy ahead of both concerts, and drivers are asked to check the Traffic Wales website before setting off. Cardiff Council said that event parking would be available in Sophia Gardens and the Civic Center. The council will also operate a park-and-ride service from the sports village in Cardiff Bay from 9:00 a.m. Transport for Wales said it would offer additional capacity on trains in and out of Cardiff, wherever possible, but warned that rail services in South Wales would be very busy. GWR said there would be six additional trains from Cardiff. Buses will be diverted due to the road closures.
Weather
According to the BBC weather forecast, Friday will be warm and sunny with temperatures of 69.8 °F. On Saturday, light rain is expected along with a breeze with highs of 20 °C (68 °F). But with a closed stadium roof, the unpredictable Welsh weather is a little less important.
Bag Policy
Only small bags and handbags – not larger than 35 cm x 40 cm x 19 cm – are allowed into the stadium, and fans who bring bags were warned that their waiting times could be longer due to bag searches. There are also a number of items that are not permitted in the stadium, including professional cameras. You can find a complete list of prohibited items on the Principality Stadium website.
Other UK Tour Dates
After kicking off with two nights in Cardiff, Oasis will head to Manchester for five nights in Heaton Park on July 11th, 12th, 16th, 19th, and 20th. They will then play the following dates:
- July 25, 26, 30, and August 3 at Wembley Stadium, London
- August 8, 9, 12 at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh
- August 16, 17 at Croke Park, Dublin
They will then fly to Toronto, Canada, to start the international leg of the Oasis Live ’25 Tour before wrapping up on November 23 in São Paulo, Brazil.
