Introduction to Bain’s Brave Decision

Korean pop star Bain, a 24-year-old with blue hair, recently made a groundbreaking announcement during a show in Los Angeles. As a member of the boy group Just B, he revealed that he is gay, making him the first active boy group member in K-Pop history to do so.

The Moment of Revelation

Bain’s decision to come out was spontaneous, driven by his performance of Lady Gaga’s "Born This Way" during the US tour. He felt an overwhelming urge to share his truth with the audience, and in that moment, he took a chance and revealed his identity as a gay person. "I have the feeling that I did not lose my chance now, so it almost felt like a shield from above," he explained.

Breaking Barriers in K-Pop

Bain’s announcement is unprecedented in the K-Pop world, where LGBTQ+ rights are still progressing slowly. In South Korea, entertainers rarely publicly identify as gay, making Bain’s decision a significant milestone. He joins a small group of open gay entertainers in the country, paving the way for others to follow in his footsteps.

Support from His Label and Colleagues

Before making the public announcement, Bain spoke with his label, Bluedot Entertainment, and his colleagues, who had known about his sexual orientation for two years. While there were concerns about public acceptance, they supported his decision to express himself fully on stage. "I want to be able to talk about real issues," Bain said, emphasizing his desire to address topics that are often avoided in K-Pop circles.

A New Beginning

Bain’s decision has created a significant turning point in his life, marking a new beginning rather than an endpoint. He feels that this new chapter has broadened his perspective, allowing him to "dream bigger" and consider new opportunities, such as acting in the United States or releasing solo work that tells his stories honestly.

Embracing Freedom and Support

Although Bain initially faced negative comments, he chooses to embrace both positive and negative feedback, saying, "If you want to talk about me, please speak away. Good or bad. I’m greeting it." He hopes that his decision will encourage other queer K-Pop artists to be more open about their identities, and he feels a sense of freedom in being his authentic self.

Looking to the Future

Bain’s brave decision has sparked a new era in his life, filled with possibilities and opportunities. As he continues to navigate the K-Pop world, he remains committed to being true to himself and using his platform to promote acceptance and understanding. With his newfound freedom, Bain is ready to take on new challenges and inspire others to do the same.
