Honors for Local Heroes

A Lincolnshire artist has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honors list. Jason Wilsher-Mills from Sleaford described the award as a "wonderful honor". His latest exhibition at the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull has already attracted over 50,000 visitors.

Overcoming Adversity

Jason, who was born in Wakefield, has used a wheelchair since he was 11 years old after damaging his central nervous system from contracting chickenpox. He said that the MBE is "one of the highest awards that I could receive" and recognizes his work as an artist and his efforts to raise awareness about disability issues.

Other Honorees

Other individuals from Lincolnshire have also been recognized in the King’s Birthday Honors list. Paul Boucher, Director of the Lincolnshire Traveler Initiative, has been awarded an OBE for his services to the county. Eleanor Hutton, Manager of Grimsby Pre-School Center Explorositos Education, receives an MBE. Helen Keneally, who works at a children’s center in Scunthorpe, has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for her work involving families in community activities.

Community Champions

Helen Keneally’s work includes organizing community events such as picnics and barbecues in the summer. Her award recognizes her dedication to supporting local families and bringing the community together. These individuals are an inspiration to others, and their awards are a testament to their hard work and commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
