Hamilton’s Original Cast Reunites at the Tony Awards

The original Broadway cast of Hamilton took to the stage at the 78th annual Tony Awards, but with a notable absence among the solo performers. Hamilton’s creator and star, Lin-Manuel Miranda, was joined by the leading actors Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Christopher Jackson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Leslie Odom, Jr., Okieriete Onaodowan, and Phillipa Soo.

A Notable Absence

However, Anthony Ramos, who played the dual roles of Philip Hamilton and John Laurens in the production, was not given a solo moment – and fans were quick to notice. "Sooooo, I just missed it or why didn’t Anthony Ramos get a solo?" one fan wrote. Another fan commented, "They had Anthony Ramos as a stand-in LOL only person without a solo during the performance." Despite this, Ramos was part of the performance, although he was not initially announced as part of the reunion.

The Performance

The original cast performed a medley of songs from the production, including "Non-Stop," "My Shot," "History Has Its Eyes on You," and "The Room Where It Happens." The fans were enthusiastic about the overall performance, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts. "This Hamilton medley with the entire original company just changed my life, Holy S***," one fan wrote. Another fan commented, "Chills! It was incredible to see the original cast of Hamilton perform together 10 years later!"

The Original Cast’s Involvement

Several members of the original cast were involved in other parts of the program. Goldsberry, who won a Tony for her role as Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton, hosted the first part of the ceremony, The Tony Awards: Act 1, on Pluto TV. Previous Tony winner Groff, who was nominated for his leading role this year in Just in Time, appeared early in the national broadcast that started at 8 p.m. The Oscar winner Debose presented the award for leading actor in a musical, and Miranda awarded the best musical trophy.

The Tony Awards

The original cast reunited to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the hit musical on Broadway. Hamilton received a record 16 Tony nominations in 2016 and ultimately won 11 awards, including best musical. The full list of Tony winners for 2025 can be found online. The ensemble of the Hamilton company was rounded out by Carleigh Bettiol, Andrew Chappelle, Ariana Debose, Alysha Deslorieux, Sydney James Harcourt, Neil Haskell, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jaspers, Stephanie Klemons, Morgan Marcell, Javier Muñoz, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Jon Rua, Austin Smith, Seth Stewart, and Voltaire Wade-Greene.
