Introduction to Tom Felton’s Latest Role
Actor Tom Felton will join the Broadway Company of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for a limited engagement this year. He will reprise his role as Draco Malfoy, which he played in all eight Harry Potter films. Felton will begin his residency at the Lyric Theater in New York City on November 11th and will stay with the show until March 22, 2026.
Background on the Play
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place 19 years after the original series ended, following Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as they send their children to Hogwarts. The play is based on an original story by JK Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany. It has been open at the West End in London since 2016 and on Broadway since 2018, with productions also installed in cities around the world, including Hamburg, Melbourne, Toronto, and Tokyo.
Tom Felton’s Thoughts on Reprising His Role
"Being part of the Harry Potter films was one of the greatest honors of my life," said Felton in a statement. "Stepping into this production is a full-circle moment for me, as when I start performing in The Cursed Child this autumn, I will also be the exact age that Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be back in his shoes – and, of course, his legendary platinum blonde – and I’m thrilled to explore his story and share it with the world’s biggest fan community. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being part of the Broadway community."
Production Team’s Statement
In a joint statement, producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender said: "As fans of the wizarding world, we are incredibly delighted to welcome Tom into our Cursed Child family on Broadway and offer Harry Potter fans around the world the unique thrill of seeing him reprise this iconic role, this time on stage in New York City. This moment is powerful on many levels, as his Broadway debut will give not only him but also Draco a new chapter."

Two years later, he played Bob Edwards in Gareth Farr’s play A Child of Science at the Bristol Old Vic. His television credits include roles in The Flash, Murder in the First, the mini-series Full Circle, and Ridley Scott’s Labyrinth. Felton has also appeared in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Belle, the independent film In Secret opposite Jessica Lange, Elizabeth Olsen, and Oscar Isaac, as well as the Netflix films A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting and The Forgotten Battle.
