Introduction to the Drama

Bono, the frontman of U2, has weighed in on the drama between Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump. This comes after the President called for an investigation into Bono’s support for Kamala Harris following a "great investigation".

The Trump-Springsteen Feud

The drama began when Springsteen criticized the Trump administration during a concert in the UK, calling it "corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous". Trump responded vaguely, but Springsteen doubled down on his claims at another concert. The feud has been making headlines, with many celebrities weighing in.

Bono’s Response

Bono recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he was asked whose side he was on – Trump or Springsteen. After laughing, Bono replied, "I think there’s only one boss in America", referring to Springsteen’s nickname. This response was met with loud applause from the audience.

Trump’s Investigation Request

Trump had previously called for an investigation into the recording industry’s biggest names, including Bono, Springsteen, Beyoncé, and Oprah Winfrey, who had all shown support for Harris during her presidential campaign. Bono responded to this request, saying he didn’t want to restrict Trump’s actions, but made it clear that he was proud to be in the company of such esteemed individuals.

Bono’s Points

The Grammy-winning musician made two key points. Firstly, he said that being in the company of Springsteen, Beyoncé, and Oprah was an honor, and he would be happy to play tambourine in their "band". Secondly, he emphasized that U2 had never paid or played a show to support a candidate from any party, and that their focus was on music and philanthropy.

Trump’s Social Platform

Bono also joked that Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, seemed "quite anti-social" and often not very truthful. This remark was met with laughter from the audience.

Why Bono was Targeted

Bono offered some insight into why he thought he was being targeted by Trump. He suggested that it might be due to his founding of the ONE campaign, a non-profit organization that supports economic and health opportunities in Africa. Bono noted that the organization had the support of many conservatives and religious groups, who were angry with Trump’s policies.

A Message of Unity

Bono ended by emphasizing the importance of unity and supporting causes that benefit humanity. He mentioned the success of initiatives like the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which have saved millions of lives. Bono’s message was clear: this is the America we love, and this is the America we should all want to be part of.
