Tragic Plane Crash in San Diego
A devastating plane crash occurred in San Diego early Thursday morning, resulting in the loss of lives of several individuals, including Daniel Williams, the former drummer of the band The Devil Wears Prada, and Dave Shapiro, the owner of the Sound Talent Group.
Details of the Crash
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, there were six people on board the private jet, and the total number of deaths is currently unknown. The Sound Talent Group confirmed that three employees died, including Shapiro, 42, but did not release the names of the other victims. The crash was reported shortly before 4 a.m. and set fire to at least one house and numerous vehicles parked on the street. Several people were injured on the ground while trying to flee the scene, and others were treated for smoke inhalation.

The Sound Talent Group released a statement saying, "We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues, and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and everyone affected by today’s tragedy. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time." The Devil Wears Prada also paid tribute to Williams on their official Instagram account, writing, "No words. We owe everything. Love you forever" alongside a photo of Williams.
Dave Shapiro’s Career and Legacy
Shapiro started the Sound Talent Group in 2018 with Tim Borror and Matt Andersen after working with the Agency Group and United Talent Agency. His roster included notable bands such as Pierce the Veil, I Prevail, and others. In addition to his career in the music industry, Shapiro was an avid pilot with over a decade of flying experience.
Investigation into the Crash
The FAA stated that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) would lead the investigation into the crash. The cause of the crash is currently unknown, and the NTSB will work to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. Williams’ family confirmed to TMZ that the musician was among the victims, and the music community is mourning the loss of these talented individuals.
