Reneé Rapp’s New Single Sparks Speculation

Reneé Rapp, the actress and singer who played Leighton Murray in the HBO series "The Sex Life of College Girls," seems to be throwing shade at her old job in her newly released single "Leave Me Alone." The song, which dropped on Wednesday, contains lyrics that have fans speculating about her experience on the show.

A Hint at Her Past

In the second verse of "Leave Me Alone," Rapp sings, "I took my sex life with me, now the show is not damn / leave me alone, bitch, I want to have fun." These lyrics have led many to believe that she is referencing her time on "The Sex Life of College Girls." However, Rapp has not yet confirmed whether she is directly talking about the show in this verse.

Background on Her Departure

Rapp’s departure from the show was announced during the third season, which aired last year. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she mentioned that the decision to leave was "difficult for so many reasons," including her own struggles with her sexuality and how it related to her character on the show. She also opened up about a particularly challenging experience where she had to film a coming-out scene, which felt more like a personal experience than an acting moment.

The Show’s Cancellation

Rapp appeared in the first two episodes of the third season before her character, Leighton, was written off the show. The character’s departure was explained as a transfer to another college for a mathematics program that would aid her future career in finance. "The Sex Life of College Girls" was eventually canceled after its third season, with the final episode airing earlier this year. The show starred Amrit Kaur, Pauline Chalamet, and Alyah Chanelle Scott, among others.

What’s Next for Reneé Rapp

"Leave Me Alone" is Rapp’s first music release since her debut album "Snow" in 2023. She is set to release her second album, "Bite With Me," on August 1st. Fans are eager to see what’s next for the talented actress and singer, and her new music is highly anticipated. With her unique voice and perspective, Rapp is sure to continue making waves in the entertainment industry.
