Introduction to Venturi Production
The French actor and director Mathieu Kassovitz has teamed up with space entrepreneur Gildo Pastor to launch Venturi Production. This new venture aims to create content, including films, series, video games, and documentaries, that are deeply rooted in the worlds of science, engineering, and technology.
The Role of Technology in Cinema
Kassovitz believes that technology will play a significant role in the future of cinema. "The technology will play an important role in the cinema, so we have to master it before it changes," he said. "People will make art and machines will serve to express their vision." This vision is what drives Venturi Production to explore new ways of storytelling.
Current Projects
Venturi Production is currently working on several projects, including feature films that merge cinema and video games. One of their projects is a documentary about the moon, which utilizes archive images from NASA integrated with AI and CGI. This documentary showcases the endless possibilities of audiovisuals and space technologies.
The Use of AI Technology
The company plans to work extensively with AI technology, but not in the traditional sense. "Not generative AI, but collaborative AI," said Kassovitz. The idea is to rewrite the model to meet the standards of filmmaking, creating a new and innovative way of storytelling.
Collaboration and Financing
Venturi Production is currently being financed by Pastor, but the team hopes to collaborate with startups in technology and work with creative people to develop upcoming projects. This collaboration will allow them to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of cinema.
The Future of Cinema
Kassovitz believes that cinema should be more interactive, allowing viewers to choose their own path. "The cinema should be more interactive, e.g. books for them to choose. We have the technology, now we have to learn to use it," he said. This vision for the future of cinema is what drives Venturi Production to experiment with new technologies and techniques.
About the Team
Gildo Pastor is the president of the Electric Car Company Venturi and Venturi Space, which is preparing for its first moon mission with the Flip rover due to launch in early 2026. Kassovitz, who received the best director award at Cannes early in his career, has been experimenting with more innovative filmmaking techniques. He is set to start production on a hybrid CGI-animation and live-action family adventure film, "The Big War", which will be shot on location in French forests before introducing animators for special effects and CGI work.
A New Language for Cinema
Kassovitz described Pastor as "a real collaborator, whose vision has no limits, but remains rooted in reality." He believes that their partnership will allow them to create something truly innovative. "I have films that have been in the works for the past 20 years, in which I have been looking for producers who are crazy enough to invest in those who are not afraid to take risks." With Venturi Production, Kassovitz and Pastor are poised to create a new language for cinema, one that incorporates the latest technologies and techniques to tell unique and compelling stories.
