Introduction to the Film

Kirsten Dunst will star in Flora Birnbaum’s debut film, Self-help, a movie about a woman who witnesses a hit-and-run and becomes entangled in a far-reaching conspiracy. The film is produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Production and Sales

With the UTA Independent Film Group and WME independent handling North America, MK2 Films has taken on international sales for the movie.

The Plot

Dunst plays a woman struggling to find her place in Los Angeles, whose life takes a dramatic turn after she witnesses a hit-and-run. As she delves deeper into the mystery, she finds herself caught between a shady real estate tycoon and a dubious would-be actor.

The Director’s Background

Birnbaum, a 2017 Sundance New Voices Fellow, has an impressive array of credits to her name, including Tell Me Lies, American Crime Story, and Russian Doll. Her experience in storytelling and direction is set to bring a unique perspective to Self-help.
