Inspiration from Cinema
The cinema has been a significant source of inspiration for Ami Paris since its inception in 2010. A glance through the 107-page proposal outlining the brand’s original vision reveals headshots of several French actors, including Louis Garrel, Vincent Cassel, and Romain Duris. According to Alexandre Mattiussi, the founder and creative director of Ami, "These were the ambassadors," and notably, all of them have become customers of the brand over time.
Expansion into Film Production
Ami has recently ventured into film production. In 2023, the brand co-produced "Give Me" by Yann Leange and "Have a Look at My Shame" by Renaud Bertrand. The following year, in 2024, Ami co-produced "The Animal" by Bertrand Bonello, starring Léa Seydoux, for which Mattiussi also designed some of the costumes. This move into film production marks a significant expansion of the brand’s creative endeavors.
Presence at Cannes
This year, Ami Paris has a notable presence at the Cannes film festival. The brand is the main sponsor of the Critics’ Week, which runs from May 14 to May 22. During this event, Mattiussi is set to award the Ami Paris main prize. Additionally, Ami co-produced "Enzo," a film by Laurent Cantet, directed by Robin Campillo, which was showcased at the opening of the Directors’ Fortnight, a sidebar in Cannes focusing on contemporary cinema outside of the main competition. This involvement underscores Ami’s growing engagement with the cinematic world.
