Introduction to Emerging Talent

Petra Fagerström Wins CTF Prize

The designer Petra Fagerström, based in London, has been crowned the winner of the CTF Prize of the 2025 Challenge. This award was given during a two-day CTF event held in Milan from May 13th to 14th, where seven young designers from around the world showcased looks made from recycled fibers. The goal was to demonstrate the creativity and quality possible with more responsible materials. Fagerström’s winning design, a structured, perforated rock and coat made with Sappi Verve Trikot and EcoCell ™ Tanz, earned her a prize of 10,000 €.

Reaction to the Award

"I’m so grateful for this award. And frankly, CTF is so nice to be part of it," Fagerström expressed after her victory. "I have met so many fresh, capable designers in the past two days. And the award really won, really helps where I am with my brand."

Background and Career

Fagerström recently completed her MA in women’s wear design at Central Saint Martins (CSM) in February this year. She is known for her optical deception used in skirts and clothes, often combined with tailor-made, sculptural jackets or layered separations. With the support of the Swedish Fashion Council (SFC) incubator, Fagerström officially launched her brand in September. The SFC has also nurtured other up-and-coming stars. During her first season, the designer secured three leading dealers: Diver STREET: Market, H Lorenzo, and 10 Corso Como.

Future Plans

"We are going into production for the first time, which is of course discouraging and scary. But also super exciting because the sale went really well. So there is a lot to do. It is difficult to prepare when you are still at school, but now it really happens," Fagerström shared. "The prize money will help me create the studio, buy new devices, and develop the next collection. It really gives me the opportunity to scale."
