Introduction to the Premiere
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo made an impressive appearance at the European premiere of the highly anticipated sequel, emerging hand in hand in dramatic gothic-inspired robes.
The Storyline
The sequel continues the narrative of the first film and traces the years following the separation of Erivo’s green witch Elphaba and Grande’s Glinda. Their choice of clothing for the event marked a notable change from the previous press tour, where the duo often honored their characters by wearing their signature colors.
Fashion Choices
Grande opted for an elegant black one-shoulder dress with shimmering polka dots, while Erivo presented a navy and black ensemble with striking detachable PVC-effect sleeves. The premiere, which took place at Cineworld in Leicester Square, transformed the venue with an abundance of pink and white floral arrangements and replaced the traditional red carpet with a bright yellow brick street.

Among the notable visitors was US actor Jeff Goldblum, who plays the magician in the film. He posed for photos in a long coat and green vest, complete with a silver brooch. British star Jonathan Bailey, who played Prince Fiyero, wore an all-gray outfit complemented by a red poppy to mark Remembrance Day. Also in attendance were Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, who stars as Madame Morrible, and director Jon M Chu, in a classic black suit.

Celebrity guests included Cat Burns and Jonathan Ross, as well as Britain’s Got Talent Judge Amanda Holden. The two-part film adaptation is based on the acclaimed Broadway musical, which won Idina Menzel a 2004 Tony Award for Best Actress as Elphaba.
The Film’s Background
The film deals with Elphaba’s demonization by the residents of Oz, which led to her transformation into the Wicked Witch of the West, as depicted in L. Frank Baum’s original novel. The films are based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, which in turn was inspired by Baum’s 1900 children’s story and was adapted into the 1939 film starring Judy Garland.
Reviews and Release
The film has already received rave reviews from early audiences, saying it not only "exceeds all expectations" but perhaps even eclipses its predecessor. The next episode is scheduled to be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on November 21st.
