Introduction to H is for Hawk
Roadside Attractions has acquired the North American rights to the film H is for Hawk, which is set to premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 12. The company plans to release the film in early 2026, with a qualifying run in December to make it eligible for awards. The film features Claire Foy, who is known for her roles in The Crown and Women Talking.
The Film’s Plot and Cast
H is for Hawk is a drama film directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, who co-wrote the script with Emma Donoghue, the author of Room. The film is based on Helen Macdonald’s memoir of the same name and tells the story of a grieving woman who turns to falconry to cope with the loss of her father. The cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Denise Gough, Lindsay Duncan, and Sam Spruell, in addition to Claire Foy.
Production and Distribution
The film was produced by Plan B and premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. Executive producers include Farhana Bhula and Ollie Madden from Film4, as well as several other production companies. Roadside Attractions negotiated the deal with UTA Independent Film Group and Protagonist Pictures, which will also handle international distribution. Lionsgate will distribute the film in the UK and Ireland.
