Introduction to Dolly Parton’s Postponement
Dolly Parton has postponed the beginning of her upcoming residence in Las Vegas by almost a year and informed her fans that she needs "a few procedures" to cope with continuous "health challenges". The 79-year-old Country Music legend said that she didn’t have enough time to rehearse the shows that were planned for the Colosseum in the Caesars Palace in early December.
Reason for Postponement
In a statement posted on her social media accounts, Parton announced newly planned dates for September 2026. "I only need a little time to finish the show, as you say," she wrote. Parton did not disclose the nature of her health problems, but she recently had to withdraw from a Dollywood event after being diagnosed with a kidney stone that she said was "one of many problems".
Recent Health Issues
"It turned out that I had given me an infection and the doctor said: ‘You don’t have to travel properly in this minute, so you need a few days to get better," she said in a video that was recorded for fans on September 17th. At the beginning of this year, she lost her beloved husband Carl after more than 60 years of marriage. She later dedicated a new song to his memory, "If I Hadn’t Been There".
The impact on Her Las Vegas Residency
Parton announced the shift of her six-show run in the Colosseum and said: "I want the fans and the public to hear from me that unfortunately I have to postpone my upcoming concerts to Las Vegas. As many of you know, I dealt with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I have to have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it has to be time for my 100,000 miles long examination, although it is not the usual journey to see my plastic surgeon!"
Apology to Fans
Her message continued: "In all seriousness, I cannot be able to rehearse and put together the show that I should see, and the show that you deserve. You pay good money to appear and I want to be of my best for you." The musician is best known for a number of country crossover hits, including "Jolene", "9 to 5", and "I Will Always Love You". She was supposed to perform these together with dozens of fan favorites in Las Vegas in her first visit to the strip since the 1990s – when she appeared next to her "Islands in the Stream" duet partner Kenny Rogers.
Ticket Information
Original tickets are valid for the new dates and reimbursements will be available. Parton reassured her fans that she is not retiring, saying "And don’t worry that I can end the business because God has not yet said that I stopped." Despite her health challenges, Parton remains committed to her music and her fans, and is looking forward to performing in Las Vegas in 2026.
