Introduction to Department Q

Netflix has confirmed that the hit crime drama Department Q will return for a second series. The show is based on a series of books by Danish writer Jussi Adler-Olsen and follows a team of detectives as they solve cases that were previously classified as insoluble.

The Team Behind Department Q

The team is led by DCI Carl Morck, a damaged and complex detective played by Matthew Goode. Morck is joined by his team members, including Akram, played by Alexej Manvelov, Rose, played by Leah Byrne, and Hardy, played by Jamie Sives. The show’s unique blend of dark humor and intricate plotting has made it a fan favorite.

From Scandi Noir to Tartan Noir

The Q Department was originally set in Denmark, but the show’s director decided to relocate the series to Edinburgh, Scotland. This change of location has given the show a unique flavor, blending the dark and gritty atmosphere of Scandinavian noir with the charm and character of Scotland. The show’s director, Scott Frank, has said that the Scottish environment allowed him to focus on the humor in the original novels.

The Show’s Success

The first season of Department Q was a huge success, spending six weeks in Netflix’s Top Ten shows after its release. The show’s writer and director, Scott Frank, has expressed his gratitude to Netflix and the show’s cast and crew for taking a risk on his vision. Frank, who also directed the hit series The Queen’s Gambit, has said that he is excited to bring more of the show’s unique storytelling to audiences around the world.

What to Expect from Season 2

The second season of Department Q promises to be just as exciting as the first, with Morck and his team tackling new and challenging cases. The show’s leading executives, Mona Qureshi and Manda Levin, have expressed their enthusiasm for the new season, saying that they can’t wait to see what Morck and the gang get up to next. With its unique blend of humor, intrigue, and dark atmosphere, Department Q is sure to be a must-watch for fans of crime dramas.
