2025 MTV VMAS Lineup
The 2025 MTV VMAS is shaping up to be an exciting event, with several big-name performers and nominees announced. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sabrina Carpenter, Sombr, Alex Warren, and J Balvin with DJ Snake will all be taking the stage.
Performers and Nominees
Sabrina Carpenter will be nominated for eight awards, including Video of the Year for her song "Manchild" from her upcoming album "The Best Friend of Man". Sombr will be making his debut at the award show, after being nominated for Best New Artist and Best Alternative. J Balvin will be returning to the VMA stage for the first time since 2022, performing his latest hit "Supply Supply" with Latin stars Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez, before teaming up with DJ Snake for the live premiere of their new collaboration "Noventa". Alex Warren will also be making his first VMAS appearance, after being nominated for Best New Artist, Best Pop, and Song of the Year.
Special Awards and Appearances
In addition to the performers and nominees, MTV has also announced that Busta Rhymes will be receiving the Rock The Bells Visionary Award, recognizing his cross-cultural impact and successful music career. Ricky Martin will be receiving the Latin Icon Award, which distinguishes his four-decade career and contributions to Latin music and culture. Both Busta Rhymes and Ricky Martin will be appearing on the show, with Martin’s appearance marking 26 years since his VMAS debut in 1999.
Leading Nominees
Lady Gaga is leading the pack with 12 nominations, followed closely by Bruno Mars with 11 nominations and Kendrick Lamar with 10. All three artists are up for the top prize of the year.
Host and Broadcast Information
The 2025 MTV VMAS will be hosted by LL Cool J and will air on Sunday, September 7th at 8pm and 5pm PT, with a live coast-to-coast broadcast on CBS.
