Introduction to Lim Kim

Universal Music Korea has signed an exclusive contract with singer-songwriter Lim Kim, adding her to their growing squad of Korean artists. This squad already includes notable artists such as Dean, Heyoon, Okasian, and Bryan Chase. The signing is part of Universal Music Group’s efforts to expand its presence in the competitive K-Pop market.

Who is Lim Kim?

Lim Kim is known for her unique sound and bold visual identity. She has carved out a niche for herself in Korea’s music, fashion, and cultural scenes since her debut in 2011. Initially, she gained recognition as part of the duo Togeworl, which finished third in the reality competition show "Superstar K3".

Breakthrough and Success

Lim Kim’s solo breakthrough came in 2013 with her EP "A Voice", whose title track "All Right" topped the Korean charts. This year was pivotal for the artist, as she won the rookie of the year award at the Golden Disc Awards, Melon Music Awards, and Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.

Artistic Transformation

In 2019, Lim Kim underwent a significant artistic transformation with the release of her single "Sal-Ki", which incorporated electronic and hip-hop elements. Her subsequent EP "Generasian" received critical acclaim, winning the best electronic album and song at the 17th Korean Music Awards.

Recent Collaborations

The "Generasian" era extended beyond music, with tracks "Yellow" and "Yo-Soul" being featured as mission songs in Mnet’s "Street Woman Fighter 2" in 2023, accompanied by choreography from 1 million dance studio. This collaboration continued with the choreography of her single "Ult" in 2024.

Future Plans

Lim Kim expressed her excitement about sharing music that is deeply personal, stating, "I look forward to sharing music that is made deep with my own voice and my own rhythm." Calvin Wong, CEO of Universal Music Group Southeast Asia and Korea, and Senior VP of Asia, praised Lim Kim’s unique voice and creative flair, saying, "We are thrilled to work with her at the next chapter of her artistic journey in Korea and beyond."
