ComScore reported that the weekend earnings totaled $131 million, with the year-to-date total reaching $5.6 billion, a 7.6% increase from the same period in 2024. Weapons debuted with an A-cinema score and played at 3,202 locations, attracting an estimated 2.8 million audience members, with a male-female split of 54%-46%.
Film Performance
The horror film, starring Julia Garner and Josh Brolin, tells the story of parents in a small town dealing with the unexplained disappearance of their children. The movie also performed well in IMAX theaters, earning $410,000, which accounts for 15% of its total box office earnings. IMAX has announced that Weapons will continue to play at most North American locations next weekend.

Meanwhile, Disney/Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps took third place, earning $15.5 million in its third weekend, despite a 60% decline in earnings.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been experiencing a phenomenon known as "superhero fatigue," with some fans feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of interconnected storylines.
