Introduction to Exit 8
Neon has recently acquired the rights to a new Japanese thriller film called Exit 8, which is based on a video game by Kotake Create. The movie follows a man who is trapped in a labyrinth and must find his way out by following a simple rule that prohibits him from overlooking something extraordinary.
The Film’s Plot and Cast
The film’s plot is intriguing, and it features a talented cast, including Kazunari Ninomiya, Yamato Kochi, Naru Asanuma, Kotone Hanase, and Nana Komatsu. The movie was written by Genki Kawamura and Kentaro Hirase, and it is Kawamura’s second feature film after his debut, Hundred Flowers, which won the best director award at the San Sebastian film festival in 2022.
Neon’s Plans for the Film
Neon plans to release the film in theaters early and has negotiated the deal with several companies, including Caa Media Finance, Goodfellas, Toho, and Story. Exit 8 will have its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) next month.
Neon’s Other Acquisitions
In addition to Exit 8, Neon has also acquired several other films from the Cannes film festival, including Jafar Panahi’s Palme D’Or winner, It Was Just an Accident, and Oliver Laxe’s jury winner, Sirât, the Secret Agent. The company also acquired the animated adventure film, Arco, which was produced by Natalie Portman and won the Cristal Award at the Annecy film festival.
Upcoming Film Festivals
Neon will be presenting several films at the TIFF, including The Secret Agent, Sirât, Sentimental Value, and Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie. The company’s film, No Other Choice, which was acquired earlier this year, will be preserved in Venice. With its exciting lineup of films, Neon is sure to make a splash at the upcoming film festivals.
