Introduction to the New York Film Festival

The New York Film Festival is set to take place from September 26 to October 13, featuring a diverse lineup of films from renowned directors. This year’s selection includes Kathryn Bigelow’s "A House of Dynamite", Kelly Reichardt’s "The Mastermind", and Bradley Cooper’s "Is That Thing On?", which will be the closing night film.

Films on the Roster

The festival will showcase a total of 34 films, including world premieres and North American premieres. Some of the notable films on the roster include Judes’ "Continental ’25", Claire Denis’ "The Fence", and Ulrich Köhler’s "Gavagai", which is a metacinema that focuses on a production of "Medea". Bi Gan’s "Resurrection" and Kent Jones’ "Late Fame" are also part of the lineup.

Opening and Closing Nights

The festival will open with the North American premiere of Luca Guadagnino’s "After the Hunt", starring Julia Roberts. The main selection includes Jim Jarmusch’s "Father Mother Sister Brother". The closing night film will be Bradley Cooper’s "Is That Thing On?", which will have its world premiere at the festival.

Quotes from the Artistic Director

Nyff Artistic Director Dennis Lim stated, "Anyone who cares about film knows that it is an art in need of defending, like many of our core values today. Across all sections of the festival, the movies we have selected this year suggest that this safeguarding can take many guises: acts of rejuvenation and refusal, expressions of unease and joy, feats of imagination and commemoration."

Upcoming Announcements

In the coming weeks, the festival will announce its lineup for currents, ramps, revival, and discussions. The main panel appears in alphabetical order, featuring a diverse range of films from around the world.
