Box Office Update

The UK-Ireland box office has seen some exciting developments over the past weekend. Disney’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps held its ground against Paramount’s The Bare Weapon, retaining the top spot for the second weekend in a row.

Top Five Movies

The top five movies in the UK-Ireland box office are:

  1. The Fantastic Four: First Steps (Disney) – £3.1m
  2. The Bare Weapon (Paramount) – £1.8m
  3. Jurassic World Rebirth (Universal) – £1.33m
  4. The Evil 2 (Universal) – £1.27m
  5. Superhuman (Warner Bros) – £1.26m

Movie Performances

The Fantastic Four: First Steps added £3.1 million on its second weekend, a decline of 49%, bringing its total to £15.4 million. The Bare Weapon opened with £1.82 million from 632 locations, with an average of £2,880 per location. The Evil 2 had a decent second weekend, falling only 19% with £1.33 million. Jurassic World Rebirth also performed well, declining 20% with £1.27 million. Superhuman fell 34% to £1.26 million, dropping from second to fifth place on its third weekend.

Other Notable Movies

Other notable movies in the box office include:

  • Bring Her Back (Sony) – £499,877
  • Saaiyaara (Yash Raj Films) – £489,484
  • F1: The Film (Warner Bros) – £485,798
  • Smurf (Paramount) – £353,000
  • I Know What You Did Last Summer (Sony) – £195,150

Upcoming Movies

The box office is expected to see some exciting new releases in the coming weeks, including Disney’s More Triggered Friday. The exhibitors will be hoping that this movie performs well to keep the momentum going.

Sony Horror Slate

Sony’s horror slate has been performing well, with Bring Her Back and I Know What You Did Last Summer doing decent business. 28 Years Later added £94,671 on its seventh weekend, bringing its total to £15.4 million.

Bollywood and Independent Movies

Bollywood movie Son of Sardaar 2 started with £72,004 from 133 sites, with an average of £541 per site. Independent movie The Legend of Ochi opened with £71,412. Lilo & Stitch is still in cinemas after 11 weekends, adding £58,000 to its total of £36.9 million. The Ballad of Valais Island had an excellent increase of 8% on its last weekend, bringing its total to £2.2 million.
