Introduction to Spinal Tap’s New Album
Heavy Metal Legends Spinal Tap have teamed up with the one and only Elton John to record their classic hit "Stonehenge". The song was released on Thursday via Interscope Records, and it’s set to be part of their upcoming album.
The Upcoming Album: The End Continues
The band has also released a music video for the single, which confirms that the song will appear on the album "The End Continues". This album is part of the mockumentary "Spinal Tap II: The End Continues", which is set to hit cinemas on September 12th. The 13-track set includes nine brand new songs and four re-invented favorites, featuring guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood.
Film and Music Trailer
A new trailer for the film, featuring a musical clip of "Stonehenge", was premiered at the San Diego Comic-Con 2025 last week. The trailer was shown after a panel discussion called "Directors on Directing" with Rob Reiner and Paul Feig. You can check out the trailer below.
The Story Behind Spinal Tap II: The End Continues
The movie takes place 41 years after the release of the groundbreaking film "This is Spinal Tap" in 1984. The band members, David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls, are now estranged, but they must come together for one last concert. The documentary filmmaker Marty di Bergi also returns to try to capture the band’s journey as they face mortality and try to secure their place in the Rock ‘N’ Roll hall of fame.
Guest Appearances and Concert
The Spinal Tap band will be joined by music legends such as McCartney and John, as they try to put on a concert despite their checkered past. The movie promises to be a wild ride, full of music, drama, and comedy.
Release Date and Theatrical Re-Release
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will be released nationwide in cinemas and IMAX theaters in September. The original film, directed by Reiner and written, improvised, and performed by McKean, Gast, and Shearer, was released to critical acclaim and became a cult classic.
