Collaboration and Previous Work
Carpenter released "Manchild" in June, which was a collaboration with songwriters Amy Allen and Jack Antonoff. The trio had previously worked together on Carpenter’s album "Short N ‘Sweet" and tracks like "Please, please, please" and "Storphest Tool". "Mandild" debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Carpenter’s second topper on the chart.
Controversy Surrounding the Album
"Man’s Best Friend" has already sparked controversy after Carpenter shared the album’s cover art, which depicted her on her hands and knees with someone in a suit grabbing her hair. In response to the backlash, Carpenter released an alternative black and white album cover, featuring her resting her head on a man’s shoulder. She shared the new photo on social media, writing "Here is a new alternative cover that was approved by God".
Carpenter’s Gratitude to Fans
Carpenter took to Twitter to thank her fans for helping her reveal the tracklist for "Man’s Best Friend". She shared a post expressing her gratitude, saying "Many thanks to all my beautiful perfect fans who helped me to reveal the track list for the best friend of the man". The album is set to be released in exactly four weeks, and Carpenter is excited for her fans to finally hear it.
