New Horizons International Film Festival Awards
The 25th New Horizons International Film Festival (NHIFF) took place in Wroclaw, Poland, from July 17th to 27th. The festival’s industry program, Polish Days, was held from July 20 to 22, and it was a joint initiative of New Horizons and the Polish Film Institute.
Polish Days Awards
Polish Days organized around 250 local and international guests to see the latest Polish films in all production phases and to take part in project pitching events. The awards given during Polish Days included:
- Tomasz Habowski’s comedy-drama project "Radio Amateur" won the Wrocław Feature Film Studio Award, which included production and post-production services worth €23,500.
- Natasza Parzymies’ coming-of-age drama "The Worst Days of My Life" won both the PFX Postproduction Award and the Image Postproduction Services worth €10,000, as well as a co-production contribution to the sound post-production price worth €17,600 from No Problemo Music.
- Sonja Orlewicz-Zakrzewska’s debut drama "Exotic" was honored with an audio network music license from No Problemo Music.
- Debut filmmaker Katarzyna Iskra took the Fixafilm Postproduction Award home, which offers image post-production services worth €7,000, for her psychological drama "The Crack".
- Piotr Domalewski’s historical drama "Witch" received the Orka Postproduction Award and a cash prize of €30,000.
New Horizons Studio+ Awards
Beyond the Polish Days, the New Horizons Studio+ of the festival, which showed eight projects from first or second-time European directors or producers, gave out three awards:
- The London Film Academy Award was won by Vlad Popa’s "Sunburnn Winter", which was produced by Catalina Pistol and received script advice.
- The Polish Producer Guild Award was awarded to the production team of Tomasz Wrobel’s "Computer".
- During the Connection of Cottbus, producer Karolina Śmigiel presented "Vegan Vampire", directed by Mariko Bobrik, with the award, which comes in the form of accreditation to Cocolab, an industry event at the Connecting Cottbus Festival in Germany.
