Introduction to a New Film
The Rome-based sales outfit True Colors has recently picked up the Italian director Franco Maresco’s new film, Good Good! ((A well-made film)). This film is set to premiere in the main competition in Venice in September.
About the Director
Maresco has previously been in the Venice competition with his film Mafia is not what it used to be (2019) and won the Special Jury Award in Venice Horizons for his 2014 film Belluscone. His experience and accolades make his new film highly anticipated.
Production and Publication
The film is produced by Lucky Red, Dugong Films, and Eolo Film Productions, and it will be published in Italy by Lucky Red. This collaboration brings together some of the most renowned production companies in Italy, ensuring the film’s quality and reach.
The Storyline
Well! tells the story of Maresco himself and his picture of the legendary Italian actor, poet, and director Carmelo Bene. The film’s production is abruptly interrupted after another accident on the set, and the producer, Andrea Occhipinti, pulls the plug due to endless attitudes and constant delays. Maresco accuses the production of "filmicide" before he disappears without a trace. A friend of Maresco then tries to repair the damage, but Maresco ends up finishing his film in isolation, giving shape to the anger and horror he feels for the world.
Bringing the Film to the International Market
Elliot Gustin-Hollman, Managing Director of True Colors, expressed his enthusiasm for bringing Franco Maresco’s unique voice and vision to the international market. He believes that Maresco is a unique filmmaker who deserves to be known outside of Italy. With True Colors’ commitment to defending quality cinema, Good Good! is expected to make a significant impact globally.
