Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Past

Jennifer Love Hewitt recently opened up about her past with co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar. In an interview, Hewitt revealed that she hadn’t spoken to Gellar since the release of their 1997 film, I Know What You Did Last Summer.

The Rumored Feud

Hewitt addressed the rumored feud between her and Gellar, stating, "To be honest, I don’t even know what it was or how it all came about." She expressed her confusion about why people always try to create a narrative of them being against each other. Hewitt emphasized that she doesn’t understand why things can’t be simple and why there has to be a complicated story.

A Long-Time Silence

Hewitt confessed that she and Gellar have not spoken since they were 18 years old, which was when the first film came out. Despite the long silence, Hewitt claimed that everything is fine on her side. She seemed to be looking forward to putting the past behind them, especially with their recent reunion for the 2025 reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer.

The 2025 Reboot

The reboot, released on Friday, sees Hewitt reprising her role as Julie James. She returns to look after a new group of young people being hunted by the hook-wielding fisherman. Gellar also makes an appearance in a dream sequence, playing her character Helen Shivers, who famously died in the original film. In the dream sequence, Helen warns the new protagonist, Danica Richards, played by Madelnn Cline, of the impending danger.

The Cast

The new film features a talented cast, including Freddie Prinze Jr., who reprises his role as Ray Bronson. Other notable actors in the movie are Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, and Billy Campbell. The reboot promises to bring a fresh take on the classic horror story, with a new group of characters and plenty of suspense.
