Behind the Scenes of Superman
The latest Superman film has been making waves, and its stars, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, recently sat down for a joint video interview with People Magazine. The actors shared some surprising stories about their time on set, including some unexpected moments that left them all in stitches.
A Fearless Actor
Brosnahan praised her co-star, Corenswet, calling him "a really fearless actor" who "played with the different sides of this character all the time." This fearlessness was evident in a particular scene where Brosnahan’s delivery of a line caught Corenswet off guard, causing him to curse in surprise. "She made me curse her," Corenswet revealed, as the two actors burst out laughing.
Fun on Set
It wasn’t the only time that an expletive was shouted on the Superman set. Director James Gunn revealed that he would often have a bit of fun with Corenswet, who would sometimes ask too many questions. Gunn would jokingly tell him to stop, and Corenswet knew exactly when to back off. "Sometimes his questions are great and I totally see where they make it better, and because they make it better, they make the film better," Gunn said.
A Beautiful Relationship
Gunn praised the dynamic between him and Corenswet, saying that they have a "nice, beautiful relationship" on set. The director is used to being sensitive to actors’ needs, but with Corenswet, he can be more straightforward. "He is not that sensitive," Gunn added, highlighting the unique bond between the two.
Bringing Superman to Life
Corenswet plays the iconic superhero, while Brosnahan stars as Lois Lane. Although they didn’t reveal the specific scene where Corenswet was handed the script, it’s likely that it was the expanded sequence where Lois is painted over Superman during an interview. This scene has been praised by critics as one of the best in the finished film.
