Cancellation of Jeff Lynne’s ELO Performance
Jeff Lynne’s ELO canceled their performance on July 13th at BST Hyde Park in London. The cancellation was announced early Saturday morning after doctors advised Lynne, the frontman and band co-founder, that performing on stage was "simply not possible" due to a systemic infection he is currently fighting.
Reason for Cancellation
According to a statement from BST Hyde Park, "Jeff Lynne is heartbroken to announce that he cannot perform at the BST Hyde Park Show tomorrow." The statement explained that Lynne is under the care of a team of doctors who advised him that performing at this time is not possible, and he needs to focus on his health instead.
The Last Concert
The concert, which was announced in October 2022, was supposed to be the last stop on the legendary rock group’s farewell tour in North America. Unfortunately, due to Lynne’s health issues, the concert had to be canceled, leaving fans disappointed.
Cancellation of the Event
In a follow-up statement, BST Hyde Park announced that the event would be completely canceled on Sunday after Lynne’s exit. As a result, ticket holders would receive complete refunds. Saturday marked the last night of BST Hyde Park, and the organization apologized for the inconvenience.
About ELO
ELO, originally founded in 1970 as Electric Light Orchestra, was co-founded by Lynne, along with Roy Wood and Bev Bevan from the Move. The group was known for its unique fusion of rock music with orchestral instruments, producing iconic hits like "Mr. Blue Sky," "Don’t Bring Me Down," "Evil Woman," "Livin’ Thing," "Wild West Hero," and "Telephone Line." The band separated in 1986, but Lynne continued to work as a solo act and producer, collaborating with artists like George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Paul McCartney, Joe Walsh, and Bryan Adams.
