Travis Scott’s Latest Project
Travis Scott has announced the release of his Cactus Jack Records compilation album, with the project set to drop on Sunday, July 13th. The rapper made the announcement on social media on Thursday evening.
Album Details
The album, titled "Jackboys 2", will feature 17 tracks, including what the promo art describes as "rattled classics in the making". Bun B is set to host the project, which will be available at midnight on Sunday. Fans can already pre-order several different physical and digital variants of the album on Travis Scott’s website.
Singles and Features
The album will include the single "2000 Excursion", featuring Don Toliver and Sheck Wes. This single was released just days after Scott and Jackboys stopped by to promote the project. The album is also expected to feature guest appearances by artists such as Glorilla, Vybez Cartel, 21 Savage, and Tyla.
Release Strategy
By releasing the album on a Sunday, Scott is breaking away from the traditional Friday release day that has become the industry standard. This strategy has been used by other hip-hop acts, such as Tyler, the Creator, who released his album "Chromacopia" on a Monday morning last year. The goal is to keep the fans engaged with the music throughout the week, rather than just over the weekend.
Background and Context
"Jackboys 2" marks Scott’s first full album since the release of "Utopia" in 2023, which was one of the best-selling albums of the year and has since been certified double platinum. The first "Jackboys" album was released in December 2019 and featured guest appearances by artists such as Rosalia, Lil Baby, Quavo, Pop Smoke, and Young Thug. The album included the triple platinum single "Out West", which featured Young Thug. The new album is expected to build on the success of the first project and showcase the talents of the Cactus Jack Records roster.
