Distrib Films has acquired the US rights to the Corsican director Frederic Farrucci’s second feature, The Mohican. This film was premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival in the Horizonts additional section.
The Plot
The film tells the story of a goatherd on the Corsican coast who has put pressure on the local mafia to leave his country. However, he finds himself a victim of a search for a man who has been sent to intimidate him. The cast includes Alexis Manenti, Mara Taquin, Pietri Théo Frimigacci, Paul Garatte, and Marie-Pierre Nouveau.
Sales and Release
For films that process international sales for the film, which has already been sold to several areas. Ad Vitam released the film in France in February, where it sold more than 100,000 tickets (€ 730,000). The Mohican is produced by Celine Chapdaniel and Diane Jassem of Koro films, with co-producers Atelier de Production, Novoprod, and Les Films Velvet.
Distributor’s Perspective
François Scippa-Kohn, CEO of Distrib Films, praises the film, saying: "This environmental vest is radical, daring, and takes over the reality of a unique and sublime territory, namely Corsica, with great finesse." Distrib Films plans to release the film in September this year and is also offering it to US cinemas, festivals, and film companies for summer bookings.
