Apple Music’s Top 500 Songs of the Decade

Apple Music has announced its top 500 songs of the decade to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The streaming platform unveiled its list, with Ed Sheeran’s 2017 hit "Shape of You" taking the top spot as the most played song.

The Top 5 Songs

The top 5 songs on the list include "Shape of You" by Ed Sheeran, "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd, "God’s Plan" by Drake, "Sunflower" by Post Malone and Swae Lee, and "Rockstar" by Post Malone and 21 Savage. These songs have been consistent hits over the past decade, with "Shape of You" reaching number 1 in at least one country for over 1,800 days.

Artist Achievements

Ed Sheeran had 11 entries in the top 500, while The Weeknd had 9 entries. Drake had the most entries with 27 songs in the top 500, including "God’s Plan" which broke the record for most streams on the first day of its release. Taylor Swift took second place in terms of most songs, with 14 songs making the cut, including "Cruel Summer", "Blank Space", "Shake it off", "Wildest Dreams", and "Style".

K-Pop and J-Pop Representation

BTS had the most K-Pop entries in the top 500, with their English-language song "Dynamite" ending up in 34th place. Blackpink’s Ros Rose also made the list, with her song spending over 60 days in the top 5 of the Global Daily Top 100 charts. The Japanese duo Yoasobi was the J-Pop act with the most tracks on the list, including their debut song "夜に駆ける (racing in the night)".
