Introduction to GoGoSafari

A charity organization, Break, was forced to remove three animal sculptures from an exhibition after they were damaged on the opening weekend. The sculptures were part of a larger display of about 50 animals, including gorillas, rhinos, giraffes, lions, and elephants, placed in Norwich and beyond.

The Damage and Repairs

The damage to the sculptures was minor, but repairs were necessary so that they could be auctioned later. Break estimated that the repairs would cost at least £500 for each statue. Despite the setback, the charity organization assured that all the sculptures would be exhibited again. The damaged sculptures included Savannah Moon, Bobo, and a small step, which were taken away for repair.

About Break Charity Organization

Break is a charity organization that supports young people in the east of England who have either considered or have left care. They offer opportunities to help these individuals on their journey to independence. The organization expressed its frustration about the damaged sculptures on social media, stating that an enormous amount of work goes into creating each sculpture from the artists and everyone involved.

Impact of the Damage

The money spent on removing and repairing the sculptures "stretches resources" and would have otherwise gone into the life-changing work of the charity organization. Break has been organizing similar events since 2013, featuring sculptures of various animals, including gorillas, rabbits, dinosaurs, and cows, in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

Community Involvement

Local artists were involved in designing this year’s models, with companies supporting the event. The charity organization has had success with similar events in the past, including an auction in 2022 that raised £427,000 from the sale of 60 dinosaur and mammoth sculptures. The event not only raises funds for the charity but also brings the community together to appreciate and support the work of local artists.
