Introduction to CJ ENM’s AI Strategy
The South Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM is relying on artificial intelligence to create its future film, TV, and animation hits. The company that distributed the Palme d’Or and Oscar winner "Parasite" outlined its AI strategy at a presentation in Seoul and led an original AI animation series, "Cat Biggie".
The Role of AI in Content Creation
Shin Keun-Sup, Chief Strategy Officer at CJ ENM, stated that AI would help the company to be more competitive in the digital content landscape. The company has demonstrated two proprietary AI production systems, "Cinematic AI" and "Ki Script", which are used in its workflows. Cinematic AI is designed for narrative content such as drama and film, integrating image, video, sound, and language.
How Cinematic AI Works
The Cinematic AI system automatically processes 3D characters and environments, aiming to create a consistent and coherent visual output. This is a long-term challenge in AI-generated videos, and CJ ENM’s tool is designed to overcome it. The system enables the company to produce high-quality content quickly and efficiently.
The Power of Ki Script
Ki Script is an AI agent system that discovers original IP. The tool analyzes consumer demand and market trends, identifying promising IP and proposing suitable genres and media. Unlike conventional AI models, Ki Script has a more differentiated understanding of literary language, allowing for a deeper analysis of content marketability.
Expanding AI Content Production
CJ ENM plans to expand AI content production across genres and formats, using AI throughout the entire value chain, from planning to marketing. The company aims to secure next-generation IP and promote a new generation of creators equipped with AI technology, business, and content planning skills.
A Successful AI-Generated Series: Cat Biggie
As part of its AI strategy, CJ ENM premiered "Cat Biggie", a non-verbal short-form 30 x 2-minute animation series created internally. The series was produced in just five months, including content planning and character development, by a team of six specialists. The speed and scale of the project were remarkable, as a typical five-minute 3D animation takes three to four months to produce.
Future Plans for AI Film and Drama
CJ ENM plans to expand the use of its AI tools to film and drama later this year. The company is committed to positioning itself as a global AI studio, leveraging AI technology to create innovative and engaging content for audiences worldwide. With its proprietary AI production systems and talented team of creators, CJ ENM is poised to revolutionize the entertainment industry.
