Introduction to Anthony Ramos

Anthony Ramos is a 33-year-old Broadway star who gained fame for his dual role as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Tony-winning musical Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda in 2015.

His Experience with Celebrities

During his 15-month run in Hamilton, Ramos encountered various celebrities in the audience. In a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, he was asked about the "most annoying celebrity" he had spotted in the audience. After a brief moment of thought, he named Madonna, claiming that she had spent the entire show with her face buried in an iPad.

The Incident with Madonna

Ramos recalled the incident, saying, "She was like that the whole time," and mimicked the pop icon looking at an iPad in her lap. He jokingly added, "I was like, ‘Damn, Shawty, if you’re not enjoying it that much, you know the door is right there. You don’t have to stay here!’"

Recent Projects and Performances

Ramos recently reunited with his former Hamilton castmates, including Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Leslie Odom Jr., at the 2025 Tony Awards. They performed a medley of songs from the soundtrack to celebrate the musical’s ten-year anniversary. Although Ramos did not have a major part in the performance, it was still a memorable moment for the audience.

Career After Hamilton

After his time in Hamilton, Ramos went on to lead the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s other hit musical, In the Heights, in 2021. He has since released his own music and appeared in films like Twister and Spike Lee’s latest crime drama, Highest to Lowest. According to IMDB, Ramos has six upcoming projects, including the thriller drama House of Dynamite and the big-screen adaptation of the popular children’s series Bob the Builder, in which he will play the title role of Bob.
