New Releases in Cinemas
Universal’s live-action remake of "How to Train Your Kite" is leading the new releases in cinemas in Great Britain and Ireland this weekend. The film is set to open on 670 sites after already taking £2.4 million from Monday (June 9). The family film hopes to match the opening weekends of the animated trilogy, with the first film opening to £4.8 million (including £2.1 million in previews) via Paramount in 2010.
Box Office Predictions
The latest "How to Train Your Kite" film, starring Mason Thames and Nico Parker, will compete against the live-action remake of "Lilo & Stitch", which has topped the box office for three weeks. This title, via Disney, opened to £8 million last month, while other new live-action remakes included "Snow White" (£3.9 million debut, March 2025) and "Mufasa: The Lion King" (£4.4m debut, 2024), also for Disney.
