“Ballerina” stumbles to 25 million US

Box Office Update

The North American box office has earned an estimated $113.4 million, with the year-to-date total reaching $3.53 billion, a 26% increase from the same period in 2024.

New Releases

Lionsgate’s From the world of John Wick: Ballerina has debuted with an estimated $25 million, falling short of expectations. The film, starring Ana de Armas, has received decent reviews, with an A-cinema score, and Lionsgate executives are hoping for strong word of mouth in the coming weeks.

Top Performers

Lilo & Stitch has held onto the top spot in its third weekend, earning $32.5 million and bringing its total to $335.8 million. Mission: Impossible – The Last Billing has fallen 45% and finished third, while Karate Kid: Legends has dropped 57% and Final Goal: Blood Lines has fallen back to fifth place.

Indie Performances

WES Anderson’s The Phoenician Program has delivered the largest average per theater of the year, earning $6.3 million in 1,678 estimates. The ensemble cast has attracted a male-dominated audience, with 56% of viewers between 18 and 34 years old. Dangerous Animals has arrived in front of the top 10 with $1.5 million, while Dan Dan: Böses Eye has opened with $3.1 million.

Horror and Comedy

A24’s Bring Her Back has added $3.5 million to its total, reaching $14.1 million, while Friendship has earned $14.7 million after five weekends. Tiff People’s Choice Award winner Chuck’s Life has opened with $216,031 from 16 screens, with a donation campaign allowing people to buy tickets for others via Fandango and AMC.
