Introduction to Taylor Swift’s Music Catalog

The fans of Taylor Swift can finally consume her original six albums again without any guilt. This is because she has bought back her early music catalog from Shamrock Holdings, making it "Taylor’s version" once more. As a result, the streaming and sales of her six original albums have increased significantly.

Increase in Streaming and Sales

According to Luminate, the preliminary data for Taylor Swift’s entire catalog showed a 55.1% increase in streams on Friday, reaching 30.64 million streams. This is a significant number, especially considering that she hasn’t released any new music recently. The increase in streams includes not only the original six albums but also her other music released from 2019 onwards.

Spotify Streaming Data

Spotify reported a more dramatic increase in streams for the original six albums. The largest gainer was the OG version of "Speak Now", which saw a 430% increase in worldwide streams. Her debut album "Taylor Swift" came in second, with a 220% global jump. The other original albums also saw significant increases, with "Fearless" and "Red" rising by 160% and 150%, respectively.

Performance of Individual Albums

The original version of "1989" saw the smallest increase in streams, but still managed a considerable 110% rise. These numbers are expected to translate to the Billboard 200 chart, with all six original albums likely to appear on the chart when it is released next week. Luminate also reported that the album consumption units for Taylor Swift’s catalog were 31,000 units on Friday, compared to an average of 20,000 units per day over the previous 12 days.

Impact of Taylor Swift’s Ownership

Before buying back her music catalog, Taylor Swift had discouraged fans from streaming her original albums, instead promoting her re-released "Taylor’s versions". However, now that she owns the master recordings, fans can stream the original albums without any guilt or ethical concerns. Music supervisors will also have access to the original master recordings for use in films, television shows, and advertisements.

Conclusion

The increase in streaming and sales of Taylor Swift’s original six albums is a significant development for her fans and the music industry as a whole. With Taylor Swift now in control of her music catalog, fans can enjoy her original music without any reservations, and the music industry can expect to see a continued surge in popularity for her music.
